主要研究方向:

1. 利用环境DNA(eDNA)的生物多样性研究

生物不断释放DNA到其生存环境中,因此通过检测环境样品(包括水、土壤、空气等)中的DNA(即环境DNA,eDNA)序列可以获得物种分布、种群规模、群落构成、种间关系等重要信息。这种方法对生物及其环境不造成损伤,并且能极大提高检测灵敏度和准确度,是目前生物多样性研究的前沿领域。我们针对eDNA技术进行了一系列方法开发和优化,并利用该技术结合高通量测序和生物信息分析,开展包括北京地区鱼类多样性影响因素、青藏高原鱼类、无脊椎动物及藻类多样性、云南湖泊本土及外来生物群落构成、图们江水系鱼类等生物多样性分布影响因素、南水北调水系生物多样性传输等研究课题,为了解生物多样性组成和分布、分析水体生态系统结构与功能、理解人类活动对水生生物群落的影响、检测水质生物安全等提供科学数据。

2. 食物网关系研究

食物网关系是生态系统关系的核心组成部分,了解动物的食性是理解种间关系和生态系统过程的重要前提。然而,基于传统方法分析复杂食性难度大、耗时长、物种分辨率低。我们通过非损伤性取样,利用动物粪便DNA条形码技术结合高通量测序,分析我国西南山地森林生态系统、青藏高原生态系统等多种大中小型食肉动物的精细食性构成,并构建定量食物网,深入探讨物种食性生态位关系和共存机制。该项研究对于认识在不同食肉动物的捕食策略、生态系统功能、多物种共存关系、以及野生与家养动物之间的相互作用有重要意义,能够为保护和管理捕食者及被捕食物种多样性、维护生态系统结构和功能提供指导。

3.    野生动物的种群遗传学研究

了解野生动物的遗传多样性和种群结构对认识其进化过程及种群动态具有重要意义。种群内部和种群之间基因流的模式对于了解物种的繁殖结构和种群参数也至关重要。这些信息为评估各种生态及人为因素对物种遗传结构的影响提供依据,据此能够制定更合理有效的保护策略以保护物种的遗传多样性和进化潜力。我们利用分子遗传学技术结合野外种群调查,分析包括白头叶猴、海陆蛙、东方铃蟾、青藏高原狼等多个物种的种群遗传结构,推测其种群数量变化历史,从而为这些物种的保护提供科学依据。
