Junfeng Liu is a research professor in College of Urban and Environmental Sciences at Peking University. Prior to coming to Peking University, he received his PhD in the Woodrow Wilson School (WWS) of public and international affairs at Princeton University in 2006. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral Research Scholar and then associate research scholar in the atmospheric and oceanic sciences (AOS) program at Princeton University as well as Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL, NOAA). He is the member of Geographical Society of China and American Geophysical Union (AGU). He received the Newton Advanced Fellowship in 2018, the Excellent Young Scientist Foundation from NSFC in 2012 as well as the 12th National Youth Geographic Science and Technology Award in 2013. He works on science and policy of the atmosphere, particularly the physical and dynamical interactions among trans-boundary transport, multiphase reaction mechanism of smog, chemistry-climate interaction, health and ecosystem impact, and multilateral mitigation of short-lived and long-lived air pollutants. He has published 60+ papers, mostly in JGR, ACP and ES&T. He is an expert in developing interdisciplinary models to address regional and global air pollution problems.
