Department of Urban and Economic Geography

The Department of Urban and Economic Geography has eight professors/researchers and one associate professor. Of them, one is Cheung Kong professor, one is Cheung Kong Chair Professor, one has been granted the Outstanding Young Scientist Award, one has

been awarded the Overseas Expert for Young Talents and two has been awarded National Outstanding Youth Fund.

The Department has a research focus on Economic Geography and Urban Geography. Current work examines a wide range of themes including migration and urbanization, urban system, industrial agglomeration and industrial geography, urban social geography, self-

organizing cities, rural development and rural planning, land-use planning, and housing and real estate economics. The Department has made significant theoretical contributions to the advances in urban and economic geography. Based on the economic and social development situation in China, it has actively engaged in promoting China's urban and economic development.
