Department of Environmental Studies

The Department of Environmental Studies has 15 professors, three associate professors, four senior engineers and engineers. One academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one chair professors of the Overseas Expert, three Cheung Kong Professors two Cheung Kong Young Scholars, eight granted the Outstanding Young Scientist Award are enrolled in the department, four received China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists and one received the Overseas Expert for Young Talents.

The Department explores the spatial characteristics, driving factors and processes of human-land interaction. It focuses on the spatial distribution of toxic substances on the land surface well as its physical, chemical and biological processes, especially the spatial distribution and temporal evolution, and the interaction of various processes and the subsequent economic, environmental and social impacts.

The department has achieved many important achievements in academic research as well as the materialization of research outcomes.
